Site: Shenzhen Yantian

Yantian is a community in Shenzhen that is undergoing a slow but steady shift. It is transforming from a primarily industrial working class neighborhoods to a place in need of an upgrade of public spaces that allow residents to link to the existing and emerging cultural context.

The pedestrian bridges are part of a larger river revitalization project. The bridges themselves seek to celebrate diversity and context. Each bridge has its own signature design that is drawn from the two adajcent contexts on each side of the riverfront. The bridge itself serves as a formal segue from one reality to another, while generating a space in between that enhances the human connection to the water itself.
