SMART BOULEVARD+SEA SANCTUARY

DAMEISHA NEW WATERFRONT VISION

Location: Shenzhen, China

Collaboration: LOLA Landscape Architects, TALLER Architects

Scale: 20 ha

Client: Shenzhen Yantian District Government

Based on the theme of “resilient, vibrant and ecological”, the project proposes Dameisha as a rich urban habitat vision.

In the perfect circle of the beach, resilient coastal tree species form a buffer zone, resisting uncertainty of climate and breeding diverse ecological and cultural landscape values. The underwater artificial islands and coral reefs not only protect the beach from wave surges, but also promote an underwater ecological screen. The underwater space of Zhouzai Island allows new possibilities of technological innovation and natural symbiosis.

Buildings on the beach follow a minimal intervention. Three plazas are part of the resilient coastal infrastructure, and they also integrate the park’s service facilities, connect the regional transportation network and provide diverse recreational activities.

The boulevard next to the beach is an active linear park with diverse water features as the boundary. The sport route and cultural route closely link up the city and waterfront, forming a new regional tour network.
