The Baishuizhai Waterfall is China’s tallest waterfall, with a 430 meter water drop. It’s an important natural icon for Guangzhou. The waterfall is intriguing for many reasons. From far way it looks like one, but up closer one can see the variety in shape and spaces it has created over the course of thousands of years. The natural beauty of the waterfall is associated with many things, of which the main story is that of a fairy, dancing between the hills.

The beauty of the waterfall is recognized but could be experienced by many more people. It could stimulate tourism and active leisure in the area and at the same increase the attractivity of the Guangzhou region. The ambition is to become a 5A touristic destination. Accessibility forms an important challenge to solve, in this steep topography: all age groups should be able to get to the waterfall. And the visitor flow should be more constant, day, night, all year long.
